Redwood For Performance
By Tyler Woodward
Today everyone’s looking for that competitive edge, that extra boost in performance, that step ahead of their competition. So we created Redwood, an all-natural blood flow supplement designed to give your body the fuel it needs to reach new peaks of performance.
Redwood Key Benefits:
What Is Redwood’s Secret?:
Redwood is an extremely potent nitric oxide boosting supplement.
What is Nitric oxide?:
Nitric oxide is a gas that your body produces in order to expand its blood vessels, also known as vasodilation. Vaso means vessel and dilation to open or expand. The more dilated your blood vessels become, the more blood is able to pass through at a lower blood pressure. This allows your heart to work less hard to pump more blood throughout your body.
More Blood Flow = More Oxygen = More Energy
While your blood is a reservoir for basically every nutrient and hormone in your body, for the purpose of this article we’re going to focus on three major components that are found in your blood:
- Carbon Dioxide
You breathe in oxygen, you eat sugar or carbs and you convert them into energy (as ATP), carbon dioxide and water through a process known as cellular respiration.
C6 H12 O6 (Glucose) + 6O2 (Oxygen)→
6CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) + 6 H2O (Water) + 36-38 ATP (cellular energy)
This is the fundamental formula for energy production in our cells. From thinking, learning, speaking or running, it all relates back to this formula. Your cells need to “release” carbon dioxide in order to absorb oxygen. Your cells need oxygen to efficiently use glucose for energy and to produce CO2. It’s one big recycling system.
If your body was a racecar....
Blood would be the gas, delivering oxygen and glucose to your cells
Your heart is the fuel injector (pushes the gas into the engine, your cells)
Your lungs & liver liver are the gas tanks, holding oxygen and glucose respectively
Your cells are the engine, converting the glucose & oxygen into energy
Nitric oxide is responsible for increasing the amount of blood that is transported from your liver to your cells. The more fuel that reaches your cells the more energy that you have the potential to produce. If you want to put the “pedal to the medal” and give it your all you need as much fuel as possible.
Redwood For Better Pumps:
One of the most satisfying parts of a workout, in my opinion, is “the pump” and I’m not alone, Arnold once said...
"The greatest feeling you can get in a gym or the most satisfying feeling you can get in the gym is the pump. Let's say you train your biceps, blood is rushing into your muscles and that's what we call the pump. Your muscles get a really tight feeling like your skin is going to explode any minute and it's really tight and its like someone is blowing air into your muscle and it just blows up and it feels different, it feels fantastic”
Nitric oxide boosting supplements have seen a huge boost in popularity due to their ability to make the notorious “pump” bigger, better and last longer. More blood flow being pumped throughout your body means more blood flow gets funneled into your muscles mid lift. The end result is often a mind-blowing pump in your muscles that will have you looking and feeling like Popeye as you walk out the gym.
And it just so happens that spinach, Popeyes meal of choice, is also a nitric oxide booster, although not one I would recommend.
Redwood For Increased Endurance:
When it comes to endurance training, blood flow is really the name of the game. If you cannot siphon enough oxygen or glucose to your muscle cells they begin to lose steam, as these are your cells primary fuel source. When your muscle cells run out of oxygen or glucose they have to rely on burning fat for fuel. Burning fat for fuel is a much less efficient process. Meaning that molecule for molecule or pound for pound, glucose generates more energy and less stressful byproducts than fat.
Burning fat also generates less CO2 than sugar, so it results in less oxygen absorbed into the cells. CO2 is your body’s other main vasodilator and is extremely potent at widening the arteries. By increasing your CO2 production through respiration on top of a nitric oxide supplement you’re theoretically doubling down on the amount of blood flow your muscles are receiving.
For these reasons, nitric oxide boosters have been shown to boost performance in both endurance activities and resistance training. The increased blood flow allows for athletes to train longer and harder in endurance exercises. While in resistance training it allows the athletes to execute more repetitions than their placebo counterparts.
Redwood For Enhanced Recovery:
Nitric oxide boosters have also been shown to decrease muscle soreness and fatigue levels after training. This is likely due to the increased blood flow delivery to the muscles during exercise. The boost in blood flow allows for the cells to perform cellular respiration (use oxygen + glucose as fuel) for longer, meaning less fat and anaerobic respiration (glucose without oxygen). The more and the longer your cells are able to use glucose + oxygen as fuel, the less stressful byproducts are produced and therefore you will have less stress to recover from.
Redwood For Improved Learning & Memory:
Nitric oxide by itself is extremely unstable and only lasts for about a ½ second in our body. We normally assess nitric oxide’s production through the accumulation and excretion of its byproducts nitrate (NO3) and nitrite (NO2). The release of these byproducts seem to decline with age and may be associated with the decline in learning and memory associated with aging. The decreased production of nitric oxide would likely coincide with a decrease in blood flow to the brain due to the lack of ability to expand/dilate the blood vessels in this area. There have also been a number of studies showing an association with the decline in nitric oxide production and a decrease in the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in rats, which is necessary for memory formation. However, the relationship between nitric oxide and acetylcholine is inconclusive.
Interestingly, there is a significant inhibition of nitric oxide production in patients with Alzheimer's disease and it is theorized that increasing nitric oxide production may be a viable way to increase or maintain their neurological function.
We all know that we could use that extra pep in our step and Redwood might be the easiest and fastest way to achieving that. If you're interested in better blood flow, performance, recovery or learning check out Redwood today!
